Description

A delightful summer dessert featuring a soft cake with juicy peach slices and the rich flavor of brown sugar, perfect for gatherings and warm evenings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups ripe peaches, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
  6. Gently fold in the sliced peaches and lemon juice.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream and consider experimenting with different fruits.
