Description

Char Siu Chicken is a deliciously marinated and roasted chicken dish that is a staple in Chinese cuisine, known for its sweet and savory flavor.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken thighs
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Chinese rice wine
  • 1 tablespoon five-spice powder
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, rice wine, five-spice powder, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil to create the marinade.
  2. Add the chicken thighs to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Place the marinated chicken on a baking sheet lined with foil.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, basting with the marinade halfway through, until the chicken is cooked through and caramelized.
  6. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
