Description

A delicious and easy-to-make casserole that combines the flavors of traditional cabbage rolls in a convenient crockpot dish.


Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, cooked rice, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, and Italian seasoning.
  2. In the crockpot, layer half of the chopped cabbage at the bottom.
  3. Spread half of the meat mixture over the cabbage layer.
  4. Pour half of the tomato sauce and diced tomatoes over the meat mixture.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining cabbage, meat mixture, and tomato sauce.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the meat is cooked through and the cabbage is tender.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with lentils or a meat alternative.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers or carrots for extra flavor.
  • This dish can be frozen for later use; just reheat before serving.
