- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the macaroni according to package instructions until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring until smooth and thickened.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
- Fold in the shredded chicken and BBQ sauce, mixing well.
- Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese mixture, folding gently to combine.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with green onions if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
Make-ahead by assembling the dish a day in advance. For a crispy top, try using an air fryer.
