Description

A comforting baked dish of macaroni, shredded chicken, and a creamy honey BBQ cheese sauce topped with gooey melted cheddar.


Ingredients

  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring until smooth and thickened.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
  5. Fold in the shredded chicken and BBQ sauce, mixing well.
  6. Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese mixture, folding gently to combine.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with green onions if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

Make-ahead by assembling the dish a day in advance. For a crispy top, try using an air fryer.
