Description

Millionaire Shortbread is a delicious dessert that features a buttery shortbread base, a rich caramel layer, and a smooth chocolate topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for chocolate layer)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the flour and salt, mixing until combined.
  4. Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9×9 inch baking pan.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes or until lightly golden.
  6. In a saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk, brown sugar, corn syrup, and vanilla. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until it thickens.
  7. Pour the caramel over the baked shortbread and let it cool.
  8. Melt the chocolate chips and butter together, stirring until smooth.
  9. Spread the chocolate over the cooled caramel layer.
  10. Chill in the refrigerator until set, then cut into squares and serve.
