Description

Yaki Udon with Shrimp is a delicious Japanese stir-fried noodle dish that combines thick udon noodles with shrimp and a variety of vegetables, all tossed in a savory sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200g udon noodles
  • 200g shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (bell peppers, carrots, and broccoli)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the udon noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a large pan or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the shrimp and cook until they turn pink, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the mixed vegetables and stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes until they are tender.
  5. Add the cooked udon noodles to the pan.
  6. Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil, and toss everything together until well combined.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Feel free to add other vegetables like mushrooms or snap peas.
  • For a spicier version, add chili flakes or sriracha sauce.
  • This dish can be made with chicken or tofu instead of shrimp for a different protein option.
