Description

A rich and flaky all-butter pie crust perfect for any pie filling.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cut into cubes
  • 68 tablespoons ice water

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, salt, and sugar (if using) in a food processor. Pulse a few times to mix uniformly.
  2. Add the chilled butter cubes to the flour mixture. Pulse until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add ice water, one tablespoon at a time. Pulse after each addition until the dough just comes together.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide it into two discs.
  5. Wrap each disc tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  6. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface and fit it to your desired pie dish.

Notes

Ensure your butter is cold for flaky layers. Chill the dough for the best results.
