Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and almond extract until fully integrated.
- Whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the creamed mixture, stirring until combined.
- Fold in the chopped cherries and almonds gently.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until edges are lightly golden and centers remain soft.
- Allow to cool on wire racks before serving.
