Description

An innovative twist on classic lasagna, combining the flavors of Asian dumplings with layers of savory fillings and melted cheese.


Ingredients

  • 24 dumpling or wonton wrappers
  • 1 pound ground pork or chicken
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 medium carrot, julienned
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 5 ounces napa cabbage, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 7 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3.5 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 spring onions, thinly sliced
  • Black and white sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Sauté the onion, garlic, and ginger in vegetable oil until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
  3. Add ground pork or chicken and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in carrot, bell pepper, and napa cabbage. Cook for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  6. Prepare the soy ginger sauce in a saucepan by simmering the ingredients.
  7. Assemble the layers with dumpling wrappers, meat mixture, cheese, and sauce.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then bake uncovered for another 10-15 minutes.
  9. Rest for 10 minutes and garnish with spring onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, substitute meat with tofu or mushrooms. Can be prepared ahead and frozen.
