Description

Indulge in the luxurious taste of Bavarian Cream, a delicate dessert that combines rich flavors with a velvety texture.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons gelatin
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup cold water

Instructions

  1. Pour 1 cup of heavy cream, milk, and half of the sugar into a medium saucepan over medium heat. Gently stir and heat until it begins to simmer.
  2. Whisk your egg yolks with the remaining sugar in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
  3. Reduce the heat and gradually whisk the milk mixture into the egg yolk mixture, whisking constantly to prevent curdling.
  4. Return the combined mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring continuously until it thickens.
  5. Bloom the gelatin in a small bowl by sprinkling it over the cold water, letting it sit for about 5 minutes.
  6. Stir the bloomed gelatin into the warm custard mixture until fully dissolved.
  7. Let the custard cool to room temperature, then gently fold in the remaining heavy cream and vanilla until combined.
  8. Pour the mixture into serving dishes and refrigerate for at least 240 minutes, or until set.

Notes

Make-ahead dessert: Bavarian Cream can be refrigerated for up to three days. Consider flavor variations like lavender or citrus for added depth.
