Description

A succulent ham glazed with brown sugar, honey, and orange for a delightful combination of sweetness and zest, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 fully cooked bone-in ham (about 810 pounds)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Score the surface of the ham with shallow diagonal cuts in a diamond pattern.
  3. Mix in a bowl brown sugar, honey, orange juice, Dijon mustard, cinnamon, cloves, and black pepper until the brown sugar dissolves.
  4. Prepare the roasting pan and brush the ham generously with the glaze.
  5. Bake it covered with foil for 1.5 to 2 hours, basting every 20 minutes with the reserved glaze.
  6. Remove the foil for the last 30 minutes for caramelization.
  7. Check for an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C), then let it rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Make-ahead tip: Prepare the glaze a day prior for enhanced flavor. Avoid skipping the scoring step for better glaze penetration.
