Description

A warm dish of candied yams with a rich buttery glaze and a hint of cinnamon that embodies comfort and joy, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups Yams or Sweet Potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel and slice the yams into rounds, about half an inch thick.
  3. Melt the butter in a baking dish, then mix in brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt until well blended.
  4. Add the yams to the baking dish, layering them evenly.
  5. Pour the buttery mixture over the yams, ensuring each slice is coated.
  6. Add water to the bottom of the dish to keep the yams moist.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender and caramelized.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

You can prep the yams a day in advance and cover them tightly in the refrigerator. When ready to bake, bring them to room temperature for even cooking.
