- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp ground paprika
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Pita bread or wraps
- 1/2 cup garlic sauce or tzatziki
- Toppings: fresh lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions
Instructions
- Prepare the Marinade: In a large bowl, combine olive oil, cumin, paprika, turmeric, coriander, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Whisk until well blended.
- Marinate the Chicken: Add the sliced chicken to the marinade, ensuring each piece is coated. Cover and let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- Cook the Chicken: Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken and sear for 5-7 minutes per side until cooked through and golden.
- Rest and Slice: Remove the chicken from heat, let it rest for a few minutes, then slice into strips.
- Assemble Your Shawarma: Lay warm chicken in pita, drizzle with garlic sauce or tzatziki, and add toppings of your choice.
