Description

Delicious bite-sized churro treats, crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, perfect for dipping in chocolate or caramel sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • Oil for frying
  • Chocolate or caramel sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Combine water, butter, salt, and cinnamon in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Reduce heat and add flour, stirring until the dough pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Mix in the egg until smooth.
  4. Heat oil to 375°F (190°C) in your deep fryer or pot.
  5. Pipe small rounds (about 1 inch) into the hot oil, frying a few at a time until golden brown, approximately 2-3 minutes.
  6. Drain on paper towels and toss in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon while warm.
  7. Serve with chocolate or caramel sauce for dipping.

Notes

You can prepare the dough ahead of time and refrigerate it for up to 24 hours before frying. Experiment with flavorings for different twists.
