- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan by greasing and flouring it.
- Combine the yellow cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs in a large bowl. Whisk until smooth.
- Pour the batter into your prepared pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Mix the sugar and ground cinnamon in another bowl, then sprinkle it evenly over the cake batter.
- Swirl through the cinnamon sugar with a knife to incorporate it into the batter.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool for 10 minutes.
- Poke holes all over the top using the handle of a wooden spoon.
- Beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth. Pour this over the cake.
- Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
You can customize the cake by adding nuts or drizzling caramel over the top before serving. Allowing the cake to chill improves its flavor.
