Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large Yukon Gold potatoes
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

  4. Layer the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish, alternating with the cream mixture.
  5. Add the shredded cheddar and Gruyère cheese over the potatoes.
  6. Top the gratin with breadcrumbs.

  8. Finish baking uncovered for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

For make-ahead tips, assemble the gratin a day in advance and refrigerate before baking, adding extra cooking time if needed.
