Description

A flavorful, low-carb taco pie that combines seasoned ground beef with a creamy egg custard, topped with cheese and salsa for a delightful twist on traditional tacos.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 3 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • 2/3 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup chunky salsa
  • 1 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) with the oven rack in the center position.
  2. Grease a 9-inch pie pan and set it aside.
  3. Brown the beef in a large skillet over medium heat, cooking until browned and no longer pink (about 6-8 minutes). Drain any excess grease.
  4. Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the beef and stir to combine.
  5. Transfer the seasoned beef into the greased pie pan, spreading it evenly.
  6. Combine the heavy cream and eggs in a separate bowl, whisking until smooth. Add salsa, 1 cup of cheese, garlic salt, and black pepper, mixing well.
  7. Pour the creamy mixture over the beef layer in the pie pan.
  8. Top with the remaining cheese.
  9. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
  10. Cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serve with optional toppings.

Notes

For best results, allow the pie to cool before slicing to maintain its shape. Customize with your favorite taco toppings.
