Description

A comforting dish of juicy beef patties enveloped in rich mushroom gravy, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl and mix gently until just combined.
  2. Form the mixture into oval patties, about ¾ inch thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden-brown. Remove the patties and set aside.
  4. Add the sliced mushrooms to the same skillet and sauté for about 5 minutes until they release moisture and develop flavor.
  5. Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms, stirring for one minute. Gradually stir in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce until the mixture thickens into gravy.
  6. Return the patties to the skillet, simmering covered for about 10 minutes.
  7. Serve hot over creamy mashed potatoes or rice.

Notes

For a healthier option, consider air frying the patties. You can also customize the dish with greens like spinach or kale.
