Description

Delight in the sweet crunch of toasted pecans enveloped in a rich buttery caramel with a hint of vanilla.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup pecan halves (toasted)
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Combine the sugar, heavy cream, and unsalted butter in a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat. Stir continuously until it comes to a gentle boil.
  2. Boil the mixture undisturbed for about 5 minutes until it reaches the soft ball stage (235°F to 240°F on the candy thermometer).
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract, pecan halves, and a pinch of salt until well mixed.
  4. Drop generous dollops of the mixture onto a sheet of parchment paper, leaving space for spreading.
  5. Let the pralines cool completely on the parchment paper and enjoy!

Notes

Pralines can be made a few days in advance and stored in an airtight container. You can also customize with different nuts or flavorings.
