Description

Ingredients

  • 1 lb steak (such as round or sirloin)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Oil for frying
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (for gravy)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Tenderize the steak by placing it between plastic wrap and gently pounding it with a meat tenderizer until it’s about 1/2 inch thick.
  2. Prepare the coating mixture by blending the flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in a bowl.
  3. Dredge the steak in the seasoned flour mixture, ensuring it is thoroughly coated.
  4. Heat enough oil in a heavy skillet to cover the bottom, about 1/4 inch deep, over medium heat.
  5. Fry the coated steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden-brown. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Make the gravy by melting butter in the same skillet, whisking in 2 tbsp of flour until smooth, gradually pouring in the milk, and cooking until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Serve the fried steak topped with the creamy gravy.

Notes

For a healthier option, consider air frying the steak at 400°F for about 15 minutes. You can also customize the gravy with fresh herbs or mushrooms.
