Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 ounces dark chocolate
  • 1/4 cup edible gold leaf

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Combine the water and butter in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Add the flour and salt all at once, and stir vigorously until a smooth ball forms.
  4. Remove from heat and allow the dough to cool slightly for about 5 minutes.
  5. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing until smooth and glossy.
  6. Transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a plain round tip.
  7. Pipe small mounds onto a prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack.
  10. Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  11. Cut the tops of the cooled pastry puffs and fill them with whipped cream.
  12. Melt dark chocolate and drizzle it over the filled profiteroles.
  13. Decorate with edible gold leaf for a stunning finish.
