Instructions
- Mix the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and instant yeast. Stir until evenly distributed.
- Incorporate the water: Gradually add the warm water to the dry ingredients. Using a wooden spoon or spatula, mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Let it rise: Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel. Set it aside at room temperature for 12 to 18 hours.
- Preheat the oven: About 30 minutes before baking, preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Place your Dutch oven (with the lid) inside to heat it up.
- Shape the dough: Lightly flour a work surface. Turn the dough out onto it and shape it into a round ball.
- Transfer to Dutch oven: Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven from the oven, and place the dough inside.
- Bake: Bake for 30 minutes with the lid on, then remove the lid and bake for another 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool: Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
For added flavor, consider adding dried herbs or cheese to the dough. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
