Description

Deliciously fluffy jelly donuts filled with your choice of fruity jelly and dusted with powdered sugar, perfect for celebrations or a sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup fruity jelly (like raspberry or strawberry)
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Mix dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Warm the milk: Heat the milk until it’s warm to the touch but not boiling.
  3. Combine ingredients: Gradually add the warm milk, eggs, and melted butter to the dry mixture.
  4. Knead the dough: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes.
  5. First rise: Place the dough in an oiled bowl and let it rise until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
  6. Shape donuts: Punch down the dough, roll it out, and cut out circles using a cutter.
  7. Second rise: Let the shaped donuts rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Fry the donuts: Heat oil to 350°F and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  9. Fill and dust: Cool slightly before using a piping bag to inject jelly and dust with powdered sugar.

Notes

Make-ahead by preparing the dough a day in advance and refrigerating it. You can also bake the donuts instead of frying them at 375°F for 12-15 minutes.
