Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Ground Chicken (93% lean)
- 1/2 cup Feta Cheese (or goat cheese)
- 1 medium Onion (finely chopped)
- 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley (or dill)
- 1 tsp Dried Oregano
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
- 1/4 tsp Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp Lemon Zest
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
- 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs (or almond flour for gluten-free)
- 1 large Egg
- 1 cup Tzatziki Sauce (fresh or store-bought)
- 2 cups Fresh Vegetables (lettuce, sliced tomatoes, cucumbers)
- 4 pieces Buns or Pita (whole grain or gluten-free)
Instructions
- Combine the ground chicken, feta cheese, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley or dill, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes (if using), lemon zest, lemon juice, breadcrumbs, and egg in a large mixing bowl. Mix gently with your hands or a spoon to avoid overworking the meat.
- Form the mixture into burger patties that are slightly wider than your buns.
- Chill the shaped patties in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat your grill or skillet to medium-high heat, gently oiling the surface. Cook the patties for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F.
- Toast the buns until golden.
- Assemble with tzatziki on the bottom half, layer the warm burger, and add fresh vegetables. Serve immediately.
Notes
For a gluten-free option, use almond flour and gluten-free buns or lettuce wraps.
