Description

Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla and buttermilk until smooth.
  4. Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices in a separate bowl.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  9. Beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until creamy for the frosting.
