A delightful and easy-to-make casserole featuring custard-soaked bread and fresh strawberries, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

- 1 loaf of bread (Challah or Brioche)
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups of milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- Butter for greasing the dish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare a 9×13 inch baking dish by greasing it with butter.
- Cube the loaf of bread into bite-sized pieces and layer half in the bottom of the dish.
- Layer the sliced strawberries over the bread cubes.
- Make the custard mixture by whisking eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon together in a bowl.
- Soak the bread with the custard mixture, pressing down gently.
- Add the remaining bread cubes and drizzle any leftover custard on top.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Bake uncovered for 40–50 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly before slicing and enjoy with maple syrup if desired.
Notes
Use day-old bread for best results and consider adding other fruits or chocolate for variations.
