Description

A delightful strawberry sourdough bread that combines the tang of sourdough with the sweetness of fresh strawberries, perfect for toasts or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups sourdough starter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup bread flour
  • 3/4 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Combine the sourdough starter, all-purpose flour, bread flour, sugar, and water in a large mixing bowl. Stir until a coarse dough forms.
  2. Fold in the chopped strawberries gently, ensuring they remain visible.
  3. Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for 4 to 6 hours.
  4. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Turn the risen dough onto a floured surface and shape it into a loaf.
  6. Allow the dough to rest for 30 to 45 minutes on a baking pan.
  7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the bottom sounds hollow when tapped.
  8. Cool the bread on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

For best results, use a well-fed sourdough starter and avoid overmixing the dough. Consider adding spices or walnuts for variation.
