- 3 to 4 pounds beef brisket
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup red wine
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon paprika
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Season and sear the brisket for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove the brisket and add the chopped onions and minced garlic to the skillet.
- Sauté for 3-4 minutes until they soften.
- Pour beef broth and red wine into the skillet, then stir in brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and paprika.
- Simmer the mixture, stirring occasionally.
- Place the seared brisket in a roasting pan and pour the sauce mixture over it.
- Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil and place it in the oven.
- Cook for 3-4 hours until fork-tender.
- Let the brisket rest for 15 minutes before slicing and serve with the sauce.
