Description

A comforting and savory tender braised beef brisket cooked slowly to perfection, infused with rich flavors from caramelized onions, red wine, and spices.


Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 pounds beef brisket
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Season and sear the brisket for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  4. Remove the brisket and add the chopped onions and minced garlic to the skillet.
  5. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until they soften.
  6. Pour beef broth and red wine into the skillet, then stir in brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and paprika.
  7. Simmer the mixture, stirring occasionally.
  8. Place the seared brisket in a roasting pan and pour the sauce mixture over it.
  9. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil and place it in the oven.
  10. Cook for 3-4 hours until fork-tender.
  11. Let the brisket rest for 15 minutes before slicing and serve with the sauce.
