Description

A juicy and aromatic Thanksgiving turkey infused with fresh herbs and citrus, perfect for gathering family and friends during the holiday season.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 whole turkey (1214 pounds)
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh sage, chopped
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 1 orange, halved
  • 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 onions, quartered
  • 4 cloves garlic, smashed

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Remove the turkey from the packaging and pat it dry with paper towels.
  3. Season the turkey generously inside and out with salt and pepper.
  4. Rub olive oil all over the turkey.
  5. Stuff the cavity with fresh herbs, lemon, orange, onions, and garlic.
  6. Place the turkey on a roasting rack within a large roasting pan.
  7. Pour the chicken broth into the pan.
  8. Roast the turkey for about 3 to 4 hours.
  9. Baste the turkey every 30 minutes.
  10. Allow the turkey to rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
  11. Serve and enjoy with family and friends.

Notes

Consider seasoning the turkey the night before for deeper flavor. Allow the turkey to rest after cooking for moist slices.
